FREE CD! A MONSTROUS PSYCHEDELIC BUBBLE EXPLODING IN YOUR MIND! Rare psych sounds compiled and mixed by the Amorphous Androgynous exclusively for MOJO! Featuring Can, Betty Davis, Donovan, Comus, Pop Levi, White Noise, Dungen, July and many, many more!

JIMMY PAGE: In a world exclusive interview with the keeper of the Led Zeppelin flame, MOJO is given a first look at Jimmy Page’s mammoth pictorial autobiography. Cue a look back over a career that has spanned the last 45 years of rock history with unseen photos, in-depth discussion of his new movie, his new music and the truth behind those persistent Zeppelin rumours. PLUS! The Page record collection revealed! The sounds that rock his soul!

CORINNE BAILEY RAE: The sudden death of her husband in 2008 saw Corinne Bailey Rae’s future shrouded in darkness. Now, as she prepares for the release of her long-awaited second album, The Sea, MOJO travels out of the shadows and into the light with the neo-soul singer-songwriter. “There are lots of times, even now,” she tells MOJO’s Tom Doyle, “when it feels like it hasn’t really happened.”

SHANE MacGOWAN: MOJO’s Will Hodgkinson spent an epic night in the company of the carousing Pogues legend and (just) survived to tell the tale. In an extended MOJO interview, Ireland’s rebel poet holds court on fairy forts, hair restoration and the mind police. “I generally stay awake for about a week,” he reveals.

IAN DURY: In an exclusive extract from his soon-to-be-published Dury biography, Will Birch maps the three-year descent that turned the punk poet from chart-topper into a troubled, self-destructing soul.

10 FOR 2010: Behold! From feral funk-metal to dream pop melodies, MOJO picks 10 new acts guaranteed to brighten the year ahead.

SLAYER: Their genre-defining classic revisited! “We liked our music to sound really dark and ugly and eerie,” say metal legends Slayer as they look back on the making of Reign In Blood.

REVIEWED! 125 albums reviewed and rated! Including – Midlake, Corinne Bailey Rae, Jello Biafra, Vampire Weekend, Beach House, Tindersticks, Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, PiL, Kevin Coyne, Neil Young, Animal Collective, Tamla Motown, Beefheart book / Ian Dury biography / Clint Eastwood’s Johnny Mercer film / The Flaming Lips & Steve Earle live and much, much more!

PLUS! All back to Steve Martin’s place / In the studio with Paul Weller / Sly Stone documentary revealed / Macca in Hamburg / Blur film on the way / Daniel Johnston’s Self-Portrait / The Magic Numbers return / Ginger Baker speaks / Amorphous Androgynous tune in and turn on.

AND FINALLY… How To Buy Deep Purple! The rock legends’ back catalogue dissected!

  • I like having a fight to get the CD off the front cover. Gives me a chance to tear into whichever artist you decide to put there. Poor old Dave Grohl didn't stand a chance last month. Can't wait for the next Beatles cover!

  • Yeah, same thing happened to me! Oh well, it was Dave Grohl on the cover, no big loss. Do love the TCV's album though.

  • New Zep biography mentions how Page was inspired to form his own combo from his work on Brian Jones' soundtrack for that german film A Degree of Murder. Hope this article equally insightful.

  • @ " " : I'm with you on the fucking glue ripping up the cover. I may try some of that glue remover or something but that will probably damage it more. I hate having to go out and buy a double to replace a ripped cover which too me and my collection makes any magazine crap.

  • Mojo really needs to do what Uncut and Paste does and put the cd in a simple slip case. Their cds leave an ugly crease on the magazine even if the glue doesn't destroy it.

  • Love the mag and look forward to reading this issue, but stop with the jewel cases, which via international post and the USPS always arrive cracked, broken, or completely shattered. How about something slimmer, friendlier, and more durable like a plastic slipcase or a cardboard sleeve?

  • Glad to see I wasn't alone when my Wall CD ripped off part of Dave Grohl's right sleeve. Three weeks in here in the good old USofA (California to be precise), and still no sign of this issue at any of my local record shops. I hope it's not released at the same time as Borders and such. I like the sensation of picking it up at a place where I have a good chance of getting the stuff MOJO recommends.

  • Quite a good issue. Jimmy Page's got soul and his record collection is very eclectic. His solos on 'Ramble On', 'Since I've Been Loving You' (and many, many others) are more than magical. I'll always love Led Zeppelin. Free cd compiled/mixed by the Amorphous Androgynous is really cool too especially tracks by Jean Claude Vannier, Can, Betty Davis and Shogun Kunitoki.
