  • This looks like a very poor issue. Glad it'll be delayed in the post! Why do Mojo, and Uncut, keep churning out naff cd's of 'great albums' covered by artists no one gives a hoot about. Lacks passion, lacks ideas. Give us some proper new music or old gems!

  • I dunno. There's a fine line with their cover discs between the travesty that was their Revolver Reloaded and the two-parter that kept me coming back for months, The White Album Recovered. Then again, I have to agree I'd be a bit put off if it was all no-names doing the songs. I guess I'll know for sure when I get my hands on this. And yes. Track List ASAP.

  • Probably the poorest issue of the year. Don't like any of the bands they've interviewed, a boring cover and another covers CD that's completely redundant.

  • What are you guys talking about MOJO's The White Album CD's are great!!! Big-names don't add up to better songs, do anyone here remember Roger Waters' Live in Berlin album? Scorpions, Cyndi Lauper, The Band, Joni Mitchell, Bryan Adams, Van Morrison, Sinéad O'Connor, Marianne Faithfull and Roger himself??? It was biggest waste of all-time. If anyone would like to listen to new bands here Sweet Billy Pilgrim has full tracks from the new album Twice Born Men on last.fm also all the band listed are on myspace too, look them up! But a FULL CD TRACK LISTING would better still, please!!!

  • Right don't ask anyone if you can do it yourself. 1. Sweet Billy Pilgrim - In The Flesh? 2. Papercuts - The Thin Ice 3. Ulver - Another Brick (Pt. 1) 4. Rafter - The Happiest Days 5. Slaraffenland - Another Brick (Pt. 2) 6. Woodpigeon - Mother 7. Snowbird - Goodbye Blue Sky 8. Astra - Empty Spaces 9. The Amazing - Young Lust 10. The Gentle Good - One of my Turns 11. Three Trapped Tigers - Don't Leave Me Now 12. The Young Republic - Another Brick (Pt. 3) 13. Helado Negro - Goodbye Cruel World WICKED!!! I'll buy it! and what is wrong with Woody Guthrie, The Specials, Norah Jones, Kiss? Well, Kiss is a bit poor but Dead man's Bones is great band but it's new so you guys wouldn't like it.

  • generally find the cover version cds interesting, but rather than focus on an lp or artist perhaps mojo could focus on a year. eg 1969 could include covers of songs from abbey rd; led zep i and ii; let it bleed etc

Whoever thinks this is a poor issue is either too absorbed in their own tastes or too ignorant to recognize people who have impacted modern music. And why are people complaining about a free cd? Don't want it? Give it away or throw it away...what's the problem?

  • Aside from the Woody Guthrie piece it looks like a pretty duff issue - especially compared to the last two. I love Pink Floyd but utterly detest The Wall - a miasma of self-pity, full of torpid, tuneless songs that don't "sound like Floyd". If I'd been Gilmour, Mason or Wright I'd have let Waters have this as a solo project and reconvened later on - after it had sold not one jot because it didn't have the Pink Floyd banner on it. Dross. Not looking forward to hearing the covers CD unless it is a p*sstake.

I love the Wall, but I want to hear some new tunes from this great musician. I know there are some in the works for a couple of LPs. That would be a fantastic idea to turn a few heads. You people need to get laid or something. MOJO covers the classics if you haven't noticed before. Wake up before you put down the bong.

Covers albums by 'bigger artists' are rarely interesting. Scott Walker, Leonard Cohen, Drake, all quite poor, but this is actually full of great reworkings. You should listen to it before making ignorant comments.

  • Just been listening to the cover CD and have to say really enjoyed it. It didn't tell me much about the individual artists, but for me, they presented the music from a new angle and none of it is unlistenable, which can't always be said for these projects. I'm looking forward to the second half of the album (but, like Donkey Years, with a little trepidation for what may be done to Comfortably Numb). Sad that so many made their minds up about it before they had bothered to listen.

  • I'd like to make this perfectly clear: I like MOJO discs. Generally, I'm excited about cover discs. The White Album Recovered is my favorite effort so far. On my previous comment, I said there was a fine line between a great cover album(s), the White Album Recovered, and an absolute dud with little to no interesting covers, Revolver Reloaded (I'd like to add most songs "When I'm 64" and after on their Sgt. Pepper cover album. The entire beginning is gold.) When I use the term no-name, I'm referring to bands I didn't know previously BUT ALSO just don't feel the urge to check out based on their offering. Revolver Reloaded was full of these, as every cover seemed to be someone on an acoustic guitar who didn't sing very well and certainly didn't do the song justice. Not all the songs were bad, but that's just my example. I'm not asking MOJO to not give us anything new. Please continue. I just want the cover effort to not bore me to sleep by the 3rd track. But as I said before, I'll wait and see.

Hearing another angle of wellknown songs and albums (even better) just make the experience so much richer. For me it is just a question of open mind. Most of it will not live up to the standards of the original but hey - it is all a refreshing take on the material! Well done all of you brave bands who contributed. All very worthwhile and several favourite tracks already.
