FREE CD! ABBEY ROAD NOW! The Beatles' 1969 classic re-recorded by the likes of Cornershop, Robyn Hitchcock, Gomez, The Low Anthem, Glenn Tilbrook, Noah And The Whale and many, many more!

THE BEATLES: Sir Paul McCartney and the Abbey Road studio wizards revisit the making of the Fabs' glorious swansong and, as we approach the release of those tantalising remasters, MOJO’s Jon Savage explores the Beatles' freshly mapped sonic universe. PLUS! The Beatles Rock Band revealed!

BUNNY WAILER: Raised as Bob Marley's brother and imprisoned for "healing the nation", reggae's most famous hermit and last original Wailer spills the beans to MOJO’s David Katz.

THE CRIBS: With new guitarist Johnny Marr on board, Yorkshire's Jarman brothers are gearing up for the big time with their new album Ignore The Ignorant. Lois Wilson hears their lo-fi philosophy in sun-kissed L.A.

TUBULAR BELLS: Behind the success of the 17 million-selling prog symphony lies a tale of bad acid, bitterness and distrust. "Musicians don't like me," Mike Oldfield tells MOJO’s Mat Snow, “and I don't like them."

THE WHO: When photo-journalist Colin Jones met The Who in the mid-'60s he entered the very heart of Swinging London and produced some iconic photography in the process. "I could shoot them in bed with their girlfriends!" he tells MOJO’s Danny Eccleston.

PREFAB SPROUT: From '80s pop mastermind to Syd Barrett-style recluse, "I lost the plot early on," reveals Paddy McAloon.

125 ALBUMS REVIEWED! Richard Hawley’s Truelove's Gutter, Plastic Ono Band returns, Os Mutantes, Monsters Of Folk, Prefab Sprout, Black Crowes, David Sylvain and many more!

PLUS! Lee Perry art collaboration / Jah Wobble / In the studio with LCD Soundsystem / Charlotte Gainsbourg / Robbie Krieger on Dylan / Chris Clark / Neil Diamond exclusive / On the road with Cornershop / farewell, George Russell

AND FINALLY...It's the Secret History Of Rock 'n' Roll! This month: lobsters!

  • The decline of MOJO continues. Abbey Road was covered in the Oct 2000 issue (much better article). What sounds like a very short unremarkable interview with Paul is eked out over several pages. Jon Savage spends an article, telling us that the remasters sound great...

  • always amazed by the naivety of those peopler who say "C'mon MOJO, put Tomwaits/Bowie/etc" on cover as if all the mag has to do is ring up these peoplke who are waiting to appear on the mag. Surely it depends on when these people are available. They're not UNCNUT (make some 70s rock sh*t up, boozy Alan and yr drunk pals). personally, i think it an amazing mix this month, and a well told abbey road piece. Compare oldfield piece in MOJO with that mean, childish one in Q and then complain.

  • I think MOJO should have put Nick Cave's Here Comes The Sun on ABBEY ROAD NOW! CD It's not on any album but only the B-sided to Let It Be single from about 10 years ago. Look it up readers and see if you can find it. It's the best cover of Here Comes The Sun ever. Maybe Cave's Let It Be will be on MOJO's next year re-recorded album of the same name. How about interview Ringo next time too, He's everyone favorite Beatles anyway, Now George and John are long gone. Sir Paul is well, just boring old Paul really and many times have you interviewed him anyway???

  • Fantastic feature on Tubular Bells - hit just the right level of reverence and ridicule. But you didn't fool me because I have all of the different versions of TB! I remember a sponsored walk at school (1977) where we were encouraged to raise more funds by being offered a LP of our choice depending upon the level of cash we raised. Many of my friends were successful enough to pass the 'double album threshold' and promptly requested the Greatest Hits of ABBA! I was canny (strange) enough to request the picture disc version of Tubular Bells; and I still have it. I wonder if my school friends have (let alone admit to) their first choice? Anyway back to the article. You didn't mention the Exposed live version of TB. Or the John Peel MC'd version which was played on Radio 1 by Nicky Campbell (got that on a bootleg CD) or the very latest version, the totally orchestral 'Music of the Spheres' featuring Lang Lang and Hayley Westernra. For the record my absolute favourite version is TB3. Great mag, great feature - keep up the great work!
