FREE CD! ALL THE YOUNG DUDES: 15 tracks of seriously street tough ‘70s British rock’n’roll bovver. Starring Mott The Hoople, Slade, Roy Wood, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, T.Rex, Motörhead and many more.

JOHN & YOKO: In a MOJO world exclusive, French journalist Henry Pessar unlocks his treasure trove of never-seen-before photos documenting John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s first days of marriage in 1969. Up close and personal with rock’s most wanted couple, we journey through their secret Parisian honeymoon, the Amsterdam bed-in and lift the lid on the true psyche of the Beatle’s renegade genius. PLUS! Lennon meets Salvador Dali!

ANTONY HEGARTY: He spent 10 years as the toast of New York’s underground art scene before hit records and critical acclaim brought his mesmeric music into the public arena. With three sensational albums now under his belt, what’s next for the gentle giant of Antony and the Johnsons? All is revealed in this month’s MOJO interview.

PEARL JAM: From the grungy streets of Seattle they came, armed to the teeth with a sound that could flatten a building. With ten million copies of their 1991 debut now sold, Eddie Vedder and co look back on superstardom, guilt, rebirth and the invaluable guidance of one Neil Young.

OMOU SANGARE: The voice of African freedom for the last 20 years, Omou Sangare has returned with her undisputed masterpiece. MOJO’s David Hutcheon travels to Bamako to meet the grande dame of Malian song.

MOTT THE HOOPLE: 35 years since they left the stack-heeled world of glam flailing, the missing link between The Rolling Stones and The Clash are back. MOJO’s Kris Needs, the band’s former fanclub chairman, guides us through the full Mott saga. Brace yourself for a real teenage riot!

JACKSON C. FRANK: His 1965 debut influenced an entire generation of British folk performers. Everyone from Bert Jansch to Nick Drake was in awe of Jackson C. Frank - a man whose journey was marred by turmoil and tragedy. In 1998, MOJO’s Jim Allen spent time with the troubled songsmith. This is the strange story of his life and times.

REVIEWED: Yeah Yeah Yeahs blitz back / Doves return / Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy / Neil Young’s Fork In The Road / Leonard Cohen live / Jeffrey Lewis / Depeche Mode / Isaac Hayes / Radiohead / and many, many more!

PLUS!: New Doors documentary unveiled / The Stone Roses rebooted / Howard Devoto on Magazine’s return / Can: the secret tapes / Vini Reilly speaks / Jerry Dammers / In L.A. with Animal Collective / Farewell, Ian Carr and Blossom Dearie.

AND FINALLY…five US GIs + two German intellectuals = the makings of a bona fide classic album. But who could it be? MOJO has the answer.

  • Sorry but no thanks! Maybe the photos are unseen for a reason like if it's like this cover! would have to been one of the worst MOJO cover ever!!! Should have put ANTONY on the cover at less it would be ugly in a good way and the another 70's CD looks boring. I hope your get it together for next month with Bob Dylan new album and tour, what about getting a new interview with him? Ed Kuepper MOJO interview would be great too, he's joining Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds for the summer tour also reforming The Saints and Laughing Clowns and his new solo album Jean Lee and the Yellow Dog is a killer too, go on I dare you!!!

  • CD Looks brilliant especially with the track "Rockstar" by "Bearded Lady" apparently recorded in 1974 and the guitar rythmn is awesome and 192 bpm !!! a killer song and easy 2 years before Punk !!! Whats wrong with John Lennon? a man easily responsible for starting at least a few million musical careers. Go Mojo !!!

  • I agree with Chris Peel well done Mojo for sourcing out the track Rockstar as I used to watch Bearded Lady at The Marquee on Sundays in the mid seventies. They were a brilliant band and their vocalist Johnny Warman has done quite a lot since those days. You guys know your business and the Mott The Hoople relaunch will be fantastic.

  • All you folk who whinge about Beatles, Stones, whatever-dinosaurs-are-gracing-the-cover-this-month, give it a rest. Who cares if there's another story about one of these bands in any given issue? Just skip it! When it comes down to it, if there's something to be promoted, MOJO's gonna cover it, whether it's moany grungers Pearl Jam being reissued or another book of 'lost' photos of your (least) favourite '60s star. If you want to gripe about something, gripe about this truly fine magazine being so much a corporate shill!

  • Why, why, why... does each month's CD track listing not merit a page of its own on this site? Although Ian Hunter's curlyheaded, shaded visage remains as impressive as ever (a fifth head on Mt. Rushmore, anyone?), it's the other side of the jewel case I'd really like to see. Is this some cynical ploy to get me to run down to the local newsagent to see if he'll reserve me a copy (in my case, that being the astonishingly wonderful Shake-It in Cincinnati, Ohio's Northside)? "And now, we'd like to introduce you to Ariel Bender..."

  • YES!!! Can someone write up the tracklisting??? You would think the tracks and artists in full would be on the website here. I'm overseas and not in England but I love Mojo too and buy it when it turns up here. I still like to know now what is on the CD!?!?

  • Would never moan about the still-active Stones on the cover (40th anniversary of Altamont in Dec. - should be a great issue!) or the corporate shill stuff (Mojo a long way from Jan Wenner's whoring), but putting John L. on the cover is hopefully the last gasp of the Yoko regurgitation machine (yeah, right).

  • F*cking horrible cover. One of mojo's worst. I can forgive (well, almost) yet another bloody beatles/whatever cover, but that photo was likely unseen because it's nothing but paparazzi shite. And who really gives a toss about seeing images like these on the lousy quality paper that mojo uses these days? Just bung the pics online, and put Antony Hegarty on the cover. Or even Pearl Jam. And if Mojo start actually praising Pearl Jam after slagging them mercilessly in their - the band's and the mag's - early years, they should fess up to it, and list some of the negative comments they've made.

  • Antony Hegarty ? Jeez he ain't exactly got a photogenic face for a front cover.I'd rather have Ronnie Wood.

  • A perfect example of all the reasons I've grown to loathe Mojo with not a glimmer of why I used to like it. It looks and sounds tired. Time to give up.

  • I'm deathly sick of all things Beatles. Couldn't you put Mott on the cover? Are you sure the only way to sell an issue is to have the Beatles Dylan or the Rolling Stones Who YAWN YAWN YAWN Give Roxy Music a cover, wimps.

  • Oh no, not another Beatles/Beatles related cover. On the other hand, we know by now that Mojo always does one or two Beatles covers every year, so hopefully we've got it over with for this year. I love The Mott the Hoople article though, and the CD included with it!
